PLAN Testing

The PLAN test is given to each sophomore during a morning seminar in March. This is the same day the juniors are taking their MME.

  • The PLAN test is an excellent practice test based on the ACT test.
  • The PLAN test also includes an important “interest survey” which helps students identify their primary interest areas and links this to future career ideas.
  • PLAN test results are distributed to students in April.
  • Couselors use PLAN test results as they discuss career interests with students and review areas students could prepare for their ACT test.

PSAT Testing

Many sophomores may wish to take the PSAT in 10th grade as a practice for the PSAT and SAT tests taken junior year.

  • Sophomores who take the PSAT do not qualify for the National Merit Scholarship. Only juniors who take the PSAT are eligible.
  • If a sophomore wishes to take the PSAT, they must sign up for the test which is given on a Saturday in October. There will be a small fee to take the test.

Sophomore Advising

Counselors present a lesson to all sophomores in their world history A class. Students once again review career and college exploration tools available on the career cruising website.

Individual meetings with your counselor are also very helpful sophomore year. Counselors can continue to advise on future plans, preparing for the college of your choice, and selecting high school curriculum that will help you meet your goals.

Careerline Tech Center

Sophomores who are interested in attending Careerline Tech Center their junior or senior year are advised to meet with their counselor to discuss this option. Students are advised of the following:

January – Careerline Tech representatives present during seminar

February – Bus Tour to Careerline Tech is available. Students must sign up and have parent permission prior to the day of the tour.

February – Tech Center applications are due early in February following the bus tour.
