Check with your college Financial Aid Office

for scholarships their college offers

The largest scholarships come from individual colleges themselves. Ask about merit scholarships and what it takes to qualify (e.g. GPA or ACT score). Also ask about any scholarship competitions they may offer and sign up for those if you qualify.

Use search engines to research more scholarships

Input information such as “nursing scholarships” into a search engine to see what scholarships you can find.

Other scholarship websites:

There are many websites where you can look for scholarships:

Employers and Clubs

Many employers offer scholarships to children of their employees. Students also may be eligible for a scholarship offered by their own employer. Also check with any clubs or organizations of which you are a member.

Watch scholarship due dates carefully

We recommend making a list or spreadsheet of scholarships you intend to apply for. Be sure to meet their application deadlines.

Complete scholarship applications thoroughly

Be sure to read directions carefully. Scholarships are very specific in the information they request. If you do not include all the required information, recommendations or essays your application may not be considered.\
