The West Ottawa Story: Our Community Supports Us

May 9, 2014 – We have tried to use this space to highlight the successes in West Ottawa that exemplify three areas of emphasis from the marketing team: 1) safe environment, 2) academic quality and opportunity, and 3) student attention. This past week, our community really helped us on all three fronts with highly affirming votes of 67% supporting our $90 million bond request and 80% supporting our non-homestead renewal.

This will create safer environments, and we know that children learn best when they feel safe. Staff act diligently every day to maintain this safety, and structural changes to entrances and improved traffic patterns will greatly help those efforts.

Bond support will enable us to improve our academic quality and opportunity. We already have some of the best programs in the state and a long list of various program opportunities in which our students engage. Building improvements and instructional technology will help us continue this quality, preparing students to be college, career and life ready.

Finally, though we cannot spend bond dollars on salaries, this tangible support from our community is highly encouraging as we continue to build positive relationships that support individual student attention every day. It affirms our very important work of making sure every student is known.

The West Ottawa Story can look forward to even brighter chapters over the next ten years. And, our community really supported our ability to continue writing.

Have a great Friday,

Greg
